11 Years Quit

As of today – Friday, May 16th – it has been 11 years since I was a cigarette smoker.
Yes, there have been times when I’ve enjoyed a cigar or a Prime Time but it was rare and I never inhaled [I sound like Bill Clinton there with that statement].
Health wise, I’m sure that it’s been good for me. They say if you can make it past 7 years, that all of the damage done to your lungs is 100% healed. I’m sure that varies based on how long you smoked and the volume per day. I was down to about half a pack a day towards the last few months before I quit.
I seriously doubt I would ever start up again and I’m sure if I ever did, there’s a line of people out there that would seriously kick my ass.
Any of my readers been smoke free? And for how long?
Woohoo Marty, congratulations! Its been eleven years for me as well – Jan 10, 2003 was my last smoke. I have no diesire to smoke anything now, tho I do wish my lungs would handle a little pot now that my state of Washington says it’s legal. Just my luck, it’s finally legal to blow a little smoke and my lungs (COPD) won’t let me! Oh well, still soooo glad I quit!
Congrats on 11 years for you. I remember you had quit a few months before I did. Yes, a bit of pot would be nice to partake of.
Congrats! While I’ve never been a smoker, both my parents were and they’ve been smoke free since 1982 and 1985.
Nice that your parents have been quit for many years.
Okay this is what I get for reading your blog in reverse order. This is SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! YAY!
Thank you.
Woo hoo! Congrats on 11 years quit!
Thank you.
Congratulations mate. I was never really “a smoker” but in my late teens very early 20s I did smoke some in Pubs. These days it’s stricly the odd Cigar now and then.
Thank you, sir. The smoking in pubs and bars is pretty much a thing of the past in many places, including Ireland and parts of the UK.
