Scooter Sunday #7
|
Welcome to another edition of Scooter Sunday
First Milestone
I normally like to note certain milestones when one of my vehicles reaches a certain mileage state. It was this last Friday when I reached the first 1,000 miles on my scooter.
My goal is to only fill the gas tank in my car once a month. Which means I should put on another 1,000 miles this summer, weather permitting. Of course, if we can have more days like today, then I predict my goal will be met.
Lego Indiana Jones game pre-order
As a fan of the Lego video games, I decided I wanted the new Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. Just to make sure I got a copy, I rode my scooter over to the EB Games around the corner from my house and placed my $5 reserve for the game, which came with the cool shirt you see above. The game comes out this Tuesday.
I wanted the DS game, but everything I read about the DS version, sounded like the game was not the same, missing unlocked characters and modes. I didn’t want to feel like I wasn’t getting the complete game. I felt safe getting the PSP version.
Mojitos
Summer is approaching. And you know what that means? Well, besides the warm weather that I love and enjoy….. yes, that’s right…. MOJITOS!
Last summer, I tried a mojito for the first time. It was very, very good. I was instantly hooked. Now I wanted to try making them at home, where I can perfect this wonderful summer beverage. One of the first ingredients called for fresh mint leaves. And what do you know… we have a mint plant growing in our backyard. It’s previous use was a sleeping place for the cats. It made them smell nice, but I think I can live with smelly cats in exchange for fresh mint leaves for my mojitos.
I picked some fresh leaves, made some simple syrup and waited for the end of the day, when we had too much heat and needed to cool down.
Ahhhhhh! Tastes so good. Oh summer, how I’ve missed you. At least I know you are close and will be a regular once these wind and rain storms stop interrupting your pending three-month stay.
There you have it. Another Scooter Sunday has ended. But it will return next week for another fun-filled day of adventures.
I don’t know which I covet more… your cool shirt… or that mojito!
I actually had no idea what a Mojito was! (You can take me outside and shoot me anytime, join the queue!)
It does look perfect for a Summer day…now if we could just actually have some Summer please?! ;o)
You’re not the only geek to take tachometer pictures. I did it when I hit 110,000 on my truck. Why that? Because I missed 100,000. Bummer.
That is called a tachometer, isn’t it?
I just ordered the Wii version to arrive on Tuesday from Amazon. I love the Lego Games!
That is a nice shirt – my problem with getting shirts with new releases (which I’ve successfully conquered with inmon, guitar hero, track-it, sharepoint 2003, openview, openvision and many, many others) is they usually only go up to XL. I need 2XL. For now, that is. For someday, in 2008, I will be beefy and muscular and the XL will be oh-so-fitting.
dave – Come this Tuesday, I’ll be wearing the shirt, while playing Lego Indy and drinking a mojito.
penelope – They are very easy to make (once you get the simple syrup made and chilled). Or seek out a cool bar in your area and ask for one… of course, once summer arrives.
kapgar – It is a tachometer (that’s the word I was trying to think of last night while trying to get this posted before Monday). I normally do the every 100,000 on my cars. I have only had three cars that have reached that mileage… one almost 200,000 before I ended up getting rid of it.
avitable – I almost got the PS3 version of the game, but realized I play my PSP more than I do my PS3. Plus I have the previous Lego games on my PSP as well.
whall – I normally take an XL, but all they had was Large, which fortunately, I can still fit into (if I suck in enough… LOL). Any smaller sizes, then I have to give them to my fiance’s granddaughter or my daughter to wear.
Oh baby…a mojito sounds good right now, and it’s 8:00 AM
I love Lego Star Wars. I hope Lego Indiana Jones is just as fun! I want to play it 🙂
I have never had a mojito, but you are making me crave one!
brandon – I’ve had a mojito at 8AM before… it’s a good replacement for a bloody mary.
kilax – I finished the first Lego Star Wars on the Game Boy Advance a couple years back. The game was a lot different than the PS2 version I played last year. I’ve not completed the latest Lego Star Wars II Original Trilogy on my PSP, but having fun playing it. I don’t have the Complete Saga yet, which I want to get.
tori – Some places also have flavored ones (in addition to the mint and lime already part of the drink). Last year, there was a mexican eatery at Mandalay Bay that had both blueberry and raspberry mojitos. Really, really good.
Meh. The game does nothing for me. However, being the RPM kinda girl that I am, the scooter pic is what I thought was cool. I’m gonna have to try a Mojito. It sounds good, but I’ve never had one. Perhaps I’ll have one the next time I go out with Hilly. She can take another of my blogging cherries! 😉
winter – I think you would like a mojito. Tell Hilly she needs one, too. Unless she still has a few of her drink cherries left. 😉
I’m thinking about getting an ice cream maker so that I can make mint/lime sorbet. I think I need a new twist on my mojitos this summer.
dagny – As a kid, I made ice cream with one of those old hand crank models, where you had to keep adding salt. I don’t recall how good it was, just that it took a long time to make. I’m sure ice cream makers of today are much easier. Sorbets are pretty tasty.
