Stalled 2 – the sequel
It was in March of this year that I mentioned this short film in Episode 98 of the podcast I do [yes, it’s been a while since I’ve recorded a new episode], but thought this needed it’s own blog post to go into more detail.
The local alternative radio station X96 held a film festival for the second year in a row and my daughter and I decided we needed to step it up and make a short film and enter it. The short film was a sequel to one we did almost 10 years ago. The X96 Film Festival was on February 22nd of this year and we got to see our film shown to a good 400 people. This year’s entry was done in Final Cut Pro X version 10.2.3. It was fun making it and while we’ve not done another short film since, we have talked about many ideas that we will put to filming, editing and making public here very soon.
NOTE: this video got a mention in my first TINTFA post of 2017
It all started back in 2006. I was stuck inside a grocery bathroom with no toilet paper and trying to finish up business. I had a cell phone an called the store. A nice employee tossed a package of toilet paper under the stall for me. This idea became a short film when I was made aware of a film festival going on in Los Angeles. It was sponsored by Palm and was called the Treo Film Festival. It was held at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, CA in October 2007. My wife and I flew down to be at the film festival and watch this little 1 min short film be shown to well over 200 people in attendance.
Back then, my video skills were isolated to iMovie 06 HD, as I hadn’t started using any version of Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express at that point in time. You can see how far my editing skill have come in the 10 years. And this is given that it’s been almost 4 years since I last made a Scooter Sunday or Snowy Sunday video. I love editing and putting these projects together, just need to spend more focus on doing them.
There will not be a Stalled 3 as that would just be silly. I’m pleased with how Stalled 2 came out and have watched it enough times to know the two changes I wished I would have made [another cut of me on the toilet waiting and using the X96 logo on a wall near the entrance to the building] and can use that in a future short film to tighten up my filming and editing skills.
I was able to watch the original without a problem but version 2 won’t load. In Feedly, I got an error message and from your website it just hangs in the loading stages. Both are done on iOS. I’ll try back again later.
