Music Monday: “Fuck You” by Cee-Lo Green 8

Cee-lo Green
“Hey… fuck you!”

Every so often, there’s a song that comes along that you really just have to listen to. Part pop, part gospel, part R&B and all potty mouth. Cee-lo Green, of Gnarls Barkley fame, created this song recently. It’s gone ultra viral and has hit all sorts of social networks, music blogs and parental hate lists. But if you want to see it in all of it’s official form, check out this YouTube video from the man himself.

I hear lots of Al Green in this song. It’s got a very catchy tune, all wrapped around the f-bomb being dropped in a very musically-accepting format.

Cee-lo’s new album drops December 7th – you can click here to pre-order it. I plan to get this one, even if it’s just to support him for his uncensored efforts at pushing the envelope, in a very pleasant way, I might add.

As a bonus, here’s a photo of Cee-lo and Danger Mouse on stage in costumes that everyone should know and love:

The Force is strong with these two

If you want to hear more from the other half of Gnarls Barkley, Danger Mouse, performing under his real name – Brian Burton – check out Broken Bells debut album. It’s one of my favorites of 2010.

It’s got a good beat and is easy to dance to. I give it an 8, Dick.

Ok, so I don’t know much about what’s good to dance too. It is a catchy tune though.

I love this song. My kids do too…when they heard it on the radio it isn’t the whole word, just “f you” and they think it is hilarious that they are so close to saying a word that is so “bad”. I won’t let them hear it this way with the whole word quite yet or that is all they will want to hear!
