Random Leakage #10

Contest # 1 Winners
About a month ago, I had a contest that had you pick your three favorite Snowy Sunday episodes. I bet some of you were thinking, “His blogging has been hit and miss lately and he forgot.” I did not forget and here are the list of winners:
- Kim from ilaxStudio.com
- Kevin from kapgar.com
- Kevin from kevinspencer.org
To those that won, I will be sending an email to you, asking for your mailing address so I can send your prize to you. If you’ve forgotten what the prize was, then you don’t deserve to win…. ha ha… just kidding. Seriously, it was a $10 iTunes gift card.
These were all randomly picked by myself, using one of those ziploc bags with all of the names of those that entered the contest printed on little strips of a paper, folded in triplicate. Thank you for watching my silly mug trudge through the cold and snow this last winter.
Free KFC on Oprah
On Monday’s Oprah show, she announced that she was paying for every family in America to get a free 2-piece meal of the new grilled chicken.
I’m not a big fan of chicken for many reasons [mostly due to the less-than-detailed cooking methods that most places use to make chicken], but I thought I would take an opportunity to get a freebie out of one of the wealthiest women on television.
I went over today around 11:45am, beating the lunch rush. While I was eating, the line formed quickly and ended up out of the door. I would guess there was at least 50 people there, both waiting and eating.
As for the chicken, it was ok. I thought it was less greasy than their other chicken. But I normally remove the skin before eating it. But it had a good flavor to it. I still enjoy their cole slaw and mashed potatoes. And the biscuit is ok if you add enough butter and honey to it. I also purchased a frosty glass of root beer [the KFC I went to is one of those combo restaurants with an A&W] to show my support for getting something for free.
Here’s the link to printing your own coupon: UnthinkKFC.com. If you missed out on that link, hit me up in the comments if you are interested in getting a coupon. I may be able to help you out.
I tried the grilled chicken a few weeks ago, and I thought it was pretty tasty. I, too, kept the skin on because it was good, even though I normally remove it.
I never win anything!
Okay, not true. I can put, though, right?! 😛
Congrats Kim, Kapgar and Kevin!
I’ll pass on the chicken.
I meant POUT.
Blame the PMS for my bad typing. And the pouting.
😛
Woohoo. Thanks mate.
amanda – Welcome to the blog. Glad to hear someone else tried this. I was tempted to interview people today and see how the masses like the Grilled, but I wasn’t setup with tripod and camera.
sybil law – your day will come soon. I hear winning comes in streaks. So if you win somewhere else, you’ll win here.
kevin – you are welcome. This random stuff works for some (Sybil’s day will come). I’ll get an email off in the next few days here.
I had free KFC for dinner tonight. I got a breast and a wing with corn and potato wedges as my sides. As I wasn’t sure what chicken I’d get I went the extra step of ordering an extra crispy breast.
The KFC was more crowded than I’d ever seen it.
Because I’m a sceptic I would be really curious to know what the calorie value on that “healthy” meal adds up to! Also wonder what it usually costs. (I could look this stuff up but it’s early and I can’t be bothered!) 😉
PS Congrats winners! Not at all jealous that I didn’t win anything…again…grumble grumble
Free chicken and free music?? All hail Marty!
Congratulations to the winners!
I haven’t tried the chicken but man are they getting a ton of advertising because of Oprah and then people talking/blogging about it!
NOTE: I should mention that I didn’t watch Oprah to find out about this, only reporting that Oprah was the one that is behind this free KFC meal.
delmer – Yes, the crowds love free food. So what did you think? good, blah or meh?
penelope – I’ll look it for you… cause I’m that kind of guy. Here you go – http://www.kfc.com/nutrition/grilled.asp
And your winning days will come soon, too.
kapgar – Bow down to me… I’ll send the email out in the next few days.
tori – I don’t mind pimping free food now and then.
I’m happy to see KFC offer grilled chicken now. I can’t believe they took that long to introduce it.
I thought the grilled was good (Fried is the best! But I rarely have it.). I made the mistake of trying to eat it while it was too hot, but that’s my fault not the Colonel’s. I’ll certainly go back for it.
Did you see the placement for it in Gary Unmarried last night? It was more than just a minor mention.
delmer – I didn’t see the Gary Unmarried episode. I take it is was very heavy on the product placement.
I went and grabbed the free KFC on Tuesday and there really wasn’t a crowd. I shouldn’t knock a free meal but I wasn’t too impressed with it…but then again I have the palate of a 5-year old – give me the crispy strips anytime!
I WON!!! Yay! Thanks! And to think, I just learned how to use iTunes two weeks ago. Perfect timing!
My mom called me about the free chicken. She was really excited about it. Sigh (that was a real sigh, btw).
alex – I don’t know if I’ve had the crispy strips. I’ve been trying to avoid anything fried with or without batter.
kilax – Awesome. Now you’ll be able to get a few songs to populate your playlist.
A real sigh… I know those.
Obviously I should have entered with my “K” name – Special K (I got that name from Boogaloo Shrimp, er I mean Ozone and Turbo.
whall – You know, sometimes life is more than random. The Special K club FTW
