Depeche Mode 25 Years Ago
|I’ve been a Depeche Mode fan since 1985. This show took place on June 18, 1988. I was not at this show, but did see them on May 8th – a month before in Salt Lake City – for the Music For The Masses tour.
The archival footage found also shows Thomas Dolby and OMD, who opened for Depeche Mode on this last date.
Needless to say, this took me back 25 years.

As I said on Twitter yesterday, one of my friends was at that 101 show. I couldn’t believe it when she told me. Such an iconic gig. And I watched that 101 movie to death when it first came out.
Don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but one of the bus kids from that movie, Oliver Chesler (long spikey hair, was on the bus with his girlfriend), is now a musician called The Horrorist, has released a few albums, and has a music blog.
To have been at that 101st show in Pasadena would have been awesome. I am jealous of your friend. The Oliver story is pretty cool. Lots of great things musical came from that show.
