Random Birthday Thoughts – 2011 Edition

Taken today at my house. Pepsi did not sponsor this photo
Today is my birthday. I’ll even tell you how old I am. But not until later in the post.
This post is more or less my random thoughts on this day. Read on.
- I share a birthday with Lucille Ball, who would have celebrated her 100th birthday today. In honor of her century birthday, Google has made a Doodle.
- Today marks the 20th anniversary of the first public post on the World Wide Web. So I share a birthday with one of the places I spend a lot of time on.
- Up until this post, it’s been almost 2 weeks since I last blogged. I do that when I’ve been on a vacation, regardless how long that vacation was.
- I had to go into work twice today. Short periods, but none the less, working on my birthday when it falls on a weekend.
- I rode my scooter to work both times, so that made the 3.1 mile ride each way more enjoyable.
- I will be 50 in two years [do the math]
- Adult beverages will be consumed sometime during the 24-hours of my official birthday [at the time of this posting, none have been consumed yet]

I had to log out of my Google account to see it because Google celebrated my birthday first.
And with that, there is dinner, drinks and a movie waiting for me somewhere.
What did you do on your last birthday?

Yay for birthdays! I hope yours turned out to be AWESOME!
My birthday was pretty good this year.
Scooters and adult beverages–it sounds like you’re doing it right! Happy birthday, again. 🙂
Yes, although I admit to not mixing the two too often. Thanks for the additional birthday wish.
I love your Marty Google Doodle! Well, a very Happy (if slightly belated) Birthday to you, my friend :). I’m glad I got to tell you on Twitter while it still truly was your birthday (It’s 1:30am right now). I’m very happy the number of hours spent celebrating exceeded the number of work hours.
I have never been very good at math, so I’ll just suppose you’re somewhere in adulthood. 27 or 34 or something. 😉
Cheers & penguins & many, many happy returns!
Yes, your Twitter birthday wish was very nice. And work wasn’t bad. I got to hand off to another co-worker when it started to take longer than an hour.
27 or 34 works for me 😉
And penguins are always welcome.
Cool, didn’t know Google did birthday doodles for people. I have something to look forward to next month! And I loved the I Love Lucy doodle. Hope your birthday was great, aside from having to go to work.
I didn’t either. I was really wanting to see the Lucille Ball doodle, but all my browsers were logged in as me.
Happy Birthday, Marty!!
You look way younger than 48, too!
I didn’t know Google did that, either!
Thanks. I do look younger, but there are some days when I feel in my late 40’s. When i smoked, i used to get carded. But that was a good 9 years ago when that used to happen.
Happy birthday, Marty!
How’d you get Google to celebrate? Birthday in your profile? I’ve never looked on mine.
Thanks Kevin.
I said it on Twitter, but I’ll say it here too, happy birthday mate. I did indeed have that drink for you. A glass of Pinot Grigio actually.
Thanks for the drink share. Love a good Pinot.
Happy Birthday! I am so sorry I was late in telling you.
It’s all good. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Sharing a birthday with Lucy makes you doubly awesome. Leos rule!
Last year on my birthday, I took the day off and treated myself to a movie that no one wanted to see with me! It was lovely.
Yes, it’s an awesome person to share a birthday with.
i’m so glad you had a happy birthday, even if you had to work a bit.
Thanks, Becky.
