Beavis and Butthead Return
|
They are back. The Boys of Slumber return to TV this summer.
One of the best animated television shows ever will see new episodes this summer. No, I’m not talking about The Simpsons or Futurama [since they are still on TV, even though they have their place of greatness on the all-time list]. I’m talking about the “huh huh” and “yeah yeah” duo Beavis and Butthead, created by Mike Judge, who took the world by storm in the mid-90’s with their mindless verbiage and crazy pranks and public antics.
I remember laughing my ass off at all of these 3-5 minute shorts that slammed music videos, made fun of their classmates, and highlighted their stupidity. Will these new episodes be as good as those that aired over 14 years ago? I guess we’ll see soon enough.
For now, here’s a classic Beavis and Butthead episode:
You know, I remember one of my friends talking me into going to see the Beavis and Butthead movie in the theaters. That must have been 1996? ’97?
1996 was when the movie came out. I laughed so hard in the theater. Great stuff.
I had seen that news yesterday, also the piece about what inspired the comeback: a lady Gaga video, of all things.
I had heard that same thing about the comeback. Maybe Mike Judge wanted to counter by showing that his teen characters were “Born That Way”
I LOVED Beavis and Butthead. Here is a random fact for you: when I was pregnant with my first baby my husband suggested the name Daria. I laughed and said “never!” because of the diarrhea cha cha cha thing they used to do with her name.
ha ha.. that is a great story. My wife loves the Daria character, and I tease her with the diarrhea cha cha cha when she mentions it, so good call on choosing a different name for your daughter.
I’ve never seen a Beevis and Butthead episode. I do have a memory of them though… a buddy of mine did something goofy with his shirt and said something like, “I’m corn-holio,” which led another friend of mine — who’d also never seen B&B — “that’s an odd admission to make.”
Maybe you had to be there.
Oh yes… the Cornholio episode where Beavis eats a ton of sugar and walks around all buzzed out.
They definitely have enough fodder! I can’t wait…
Bring it on B&B
Wow, blast from the past for sure. I probably haven’t seen a single episode in over 15 years. Wonder if I’d still find them as funny as I used to.
There are some episodes that I have on my iPod/iPhone that are still funny to watch every so often and that never fail to get a good amount of laughs out of – “Mr. Anderson’s Balls” is one where the boys are stealing golf balls. Lots of juvenile references, that’s for sure.
I am so ridiculously stoked about this. But I do still need to get the original eps on DVD. Wonder if I can find them used for cheap.
I’m not sure if the DVDs are still out there and in print. They were available in each Volume (not really matched per season) or there was a package that had all of the episodes plus the feature length movie.
I have been waiting for this for fourteen years!! It’s about time MTV tried to please its original viewers. I want to see The Head make a comeback! Beavis & Butt-Head have been my favorite show of all time, with episodes like “Cow Tipping” and “Tainted Meat” the show is a cult classic that will please a lot of viewers. I just saw a trailer for a new film that reminded me of the real Beavis & Butt-Head called Fubar: Balls to the Wall. Terry and Deaner rob a sporting goods store, and set themselves on fire, I’m ready to Give’r! Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYsCDb6c3tE
