50 Forward
|
Me at 50 – taken this morning – 8/6/2013 at my home in Utah
And I have reached the age of 50, as of 6:10am this morning.
It seems like just last year, I started my last year of my 40’s. Oh wait, I did.
Google Wish
Every year Google recognizes that it’s my birthday. Not much change from last year’s image, but still a nice reminder when I’m looking for something I need to find.
The Next 50 Years
So given this milestone I hit today, am I really looking to live to be 100? Well, if I can still be active and have a few drinks here and there and not have any ailments that hinder me from needing a reminder every five minutes, then sure… why the hell not.
Seriously, though… I have thought for as long as I can remember that anyone that makes it to be 80 in life, they have lived a good long life. My mom lived to be 83 [she would have lived longer if cancer hadn’t taken her]. So there is no reason why I can’t live to be at least 80. Why not see if I can go an additional 20 years on top of that.
Plus, I have a lot more things I want to do in life. It’s time to stop looking back at what I could’ve/should’ve done before 50 and make it happen going forward. It’s how life should be lived.
Now where did I put my glasses? 😉
I want to live to be 65. I don’t know why, I just have it in my head that this will be the point where I can’t stand living on this earth one more day. Though a part of me thinks that threshold was passed ten years ago. Oh well. Happy to hear your birthday was happy!
65 doesn’t seem long enough, although with the number of gum smacking whores you see while traveling, I might see why 65 would be long enough.
Happy Birthday! My Great Aunt is 103. Every year for the past few years she’s done something big for her birthday. This year she BASE jumped from a bridge over the Snake River. Last year it was zip lining, and I think she’s been sky diving too. So I have that in my gene pool. Maybe it will rub off, but then the trade off is that she’s seen many loved ones die, including her son. So I think I’m good with living into my 80s.
103? Wow. that’s pretty incredible. And the many things she’s done in her later years.
Looking gooooooooooodddd Marty!!!
Thank you, Shannon.
Happy birthday again. Personally I’d be more worried about finding your dentures.
Is it strange that I’ve never seen the Google birthday logo on my birthday? I always forget to look.
Yeah, when I do a search on a new Google page, it comes up every year. Although it appears they use the same graphic each year now.
Happy birthday Marty! Here’s another another decade and another and another! 🙂
Thank you, Sarah. Let’s see what the next decade brings.
Happy Birthday matey!
Thank you, sir.
You look awesome!
No reason you can’t live to 100 and be healthy – not these days. Our kids? Will surpass that, no problem. I’m not planning on going anywhere before I reach the century mark – I have too much to do. I’m going to take a page from Lisa’s grandmother and stay young at heart!
But I could seriously do without the glasses.
Thank you. And yes, possible for our generation, but also very possible for our kids. I like that attitude about not going anywhere. I have lots to do, too.
