Hostess, meet your match!

This past summer, Hostess returned under a new owner with their snack cakes and pies. My life long love for the cherry pie was deflated on a serious level after I tried one the new pies, leaving me to wonder if I would ever have a decent cherry pie for a snack again.

Mrs. Freshley

Enter the brand Mrs. Freshley. I had never heard of this brand before, but had seen their snack cakes in passing at the vending machine we have at my work. I just happened to have the $1.15 at my desk and decided to give it a try.

A Real Cherry

Is that a real cherry in there?

Before my first bite, I knew this was going to be better. The outside crust was not soggy, like the comeback pie was. It appeared to be fresh [no pun intended] and the slight white glaze looked appealing.

The first bite was really good. I had to do a double take as I looked into the pie after that bite and saw a cherry… a real cherry inside. Just like the old Hostess Cherry Pies [and unlike the new “Comeback” version]. I ate each bite with a smile. This is what Hostess should be making, not some off-brand. But at this point, I don’t care. As long as Mrs. Freshley’s stays in business and keeps making these pies and putting them into vending machines [and maybe grocery stores], I have found a great tasting replacement.

And Hostess, you might want to be talking to your unhappy customers, not the blind fan boys that praise you on the social media.

Mrs. Freshley’s can be found on the web and on Twitter or at a vending machine near you.
