No Skin for Google Adsense

When Adsense senses a violation, I now replace the image with this

About 10 days ago, I received an email from Google Adsense with a notice of violation on this particular blog post from almost 4 years ago.

It turns out that Google’s violation crawlers found that I had posted a photo of Cindy Crawford with part of her ass showing. In the email, Google laid out what was considered a violation:

Google ads may not be placed on pages with adult or mature content. This includes, but is not limited to, pages with images or videos containing:

– Strategically covered nudity
– Sheer or see-through clothing
– Lewd or provocative poses
– Close-ups of breasts, buttocks, or crotches

Ok……

All Of The Fucks

So what this means is that I can say all of the swear words I want, but any image, picture or photo I post that has any part of a butt, ass, breast or too much skin showing, Google Adsense comes in and says “No, no.. that’s against the rules.”

I’ve since removed the image, replaced it with the above RED TEXT image and moved the image of Cindy to a link that opens to a new tab/page. Hoping that a link that is user-initiated isn’t also a violation.

So much for my blog post on the statue of David, although I guess if I went with the above terminology of “mature content”, the statue of David would be a work of art, which you would think would be ok to post, stone penis showing and all.

Going Forward

I will most likely be removing Google Adsense from this site in the very near future. I have been exploring different options for ads for this blog, even before the 4 year long violation was called out. My other two blogs – Chillywilly.org and Adult Beverages – will continue to use Google Adsense. It doesn’t pay much, but it’s something to help with at least part of my yearly hosting fees.
