Guns N’ Roses in 2016
The worst kept secret in rock and roll this last 6 months was the Guns N’ Roses reunion. Now that it’s official, there’s pretty much one main question on many people’s minds: what is the lineup going to be?
For this long time fan, there’s two options I will accept as an official lineup:
Pretty much nothing else should be called or labeled as an “original lineup”. Any other lineup configuration tends to pale in comparison to the original members who graced the first album and then with Matt Sorum coming in to replace Steven Adler on the drum kit during the Use Your Illusion albums.
This Rolling Stone article asks the tough questions that should be answered in the coming days and weeks, including tour dates and will Slash play “Chinese Democracy” songs live in concert?
LCD Soundsystem
And LCD Soundsystem is back, after their “farewell” 5 years ago
Not to be upstaged by another anticipated reunion, James Murphy has officially brought back together LCD Soundsystem after almost 5 years since ending the band. In his defense, James did say at one point that he would be willing to bring things back together. His quote in 2014 “There are times when I miss it a lot” was a precursor to this reunion.
The beautiful downer of a holiday song “Christmas Will Break Your Heart” was released during the final days of 2015. The prediction of the reunion was pretty set in stone for us fans.
According to the post on their official site, James promises they are “… not just playing coachella. we’re playing all over.” I am going to hold him to this. I’m sure they are getting a metric shit ton of money to perform at Coachella. And to cash in like this, I’m sure that’s one of the main reasons they decided to get the band back together.
And there’s the promise of a new album of new LCD music.
Between GnR and LCD, there’s some reuniting in 2016. Bring on the Peaches & Herb covers.
