Reba and Marty on the beach at Lake Tahoe – June 21, 2008
Today my wife and I celebrated 15 years together. We had our official first date on June 21, 2001.
Seven years later, to the day, we were married on June 21, 2008 on the banks of Lake Tahoe, CA. So not only are we celebrating our 15th year of dating, we are also celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary. Two anniversary dates in one. Easy to remember, too.
We waited 7 years to get married mostly due to me and my “I’m ok just dating”, but my wife wanted a nice wedding with just family. So I thought about it and decided that it would be a good thing. I wanted to get married on the beach and she wanted to get married in the mountains. Our compromise was Lake Tahoe.
15 years is a long time to be together. Sure there are others that make us look like small time with their 48 years [my sister and her husband] and 43 years [my brother and his wife]. But it’s a nice milestone to reach in these modern times.
We have our good times and WTF times, but we love each other and have made a nice life together. And that’s a good thing.
