“Pseudologia Fantastica” by Foster The People from 2014
Two years and more than three months have gone by since I last posted a My Favorite Song blog post. It’s not that I ran out of favorite songs… NO… not even close. I have many on the list I keep and obviously need to do some catching up this year. Let’s start with my favorite song by one of my favorite bands of the last 10 years: Foster The People.
When the album “Supermodel” came out in March 2014 (my review is here), I wasn’t overly impressed with it. Over the years, I ended up playing it again a few more times and this song – track 5 – got stuck in my head. When I looked up the meaning of the lyrics, I wasn’t finding anything right away. It wasn’t until a few years later that I discovered it’s telling the story about a soldier with PTSD from the wife’s perspective and how she tries to help him. Musically, the song is amazing and even more so when it’s performed live [I’ve heard it several times live]. A revealed gem on their sophomore album, it is now one of those songs that I never tire of listening to multiple times.
If you have not heard it, play the music video above (which is pretty incredible itself) and give it a listen.
