the backdrop of the stage

On Thursday August 15, 2024, I took a one day trip from Salt Lake City to Phoenix AZ to see one of my all time favorite bands – Jane’s Addiction – play live at the Arizona Financial Center in downtown Phoenix.

This North American tour they are doing marks the first time all four original members are playing together since 2010. Since there was no Utah date (yet), I wanted to make sure I saw them while Dave was back. You know, just in case. I mean, anyone that knows the history of this band, they were supposed to have been done at Lollapalooza in 1991. They keep coming back and I am pretty happy about that. I have seen them live twice before – once in 2013 when they opened for Alice In Chains and in 2016 where they performed their second album “Ritual de lo Habitual” in it’s entirety from start to finish.

The Return of Dave Navarro

janes addiction
Perry and Dave

Not only is Eric Avery back on bass, but Dave Navarro is back after his years long battle with long COVID. And he is in fine form, providing blistering guitar solos on all of the songs – with emphasis on the song “Three Days” Perry’s vocals were great and Stephen on drums was as epic as always. I had a seat that was off to the right side of the stage so I had a view with mostly Dave. With the exception of overly invasive security staff, my view was great.

The above video was shot by another person who was at the Phoenix show. It’s the entire song “Three Days”. I have video of the just part of the guitar solo of “Three Days” that I may upload at some point to either YouTube or Instagram.
