Care to give me a loan?
    How much you got?
    Ha
Seriously – I know what you mean. I am definitely smarter with money and accounting in general, but since my account was somehow hacked into ages ago, my stuff goes into my husband’s account, and it’s starting to get old. He uses the debit ALL the time, for stupid crap.
Guess I’ve got my own conversation coming up, soon. Oh joy!

Sweets and I would like to sign up under your wife’s financial management plan. We’ll have our paychecks deposited into her account in exchange for better management of our money. Deal?!?

Sybil… ha, what timing with your “…stupid crap” comment. I just finished going through my receipts of things I’ve bought in the past couple of weeks. I buy way too much stupid shit at the gas station next to my office building. It’s not much at once, $2.50 here, $3.00 there. But the convenience of just “going next door” has become quite the little addiction for me it would seem.

So, today I decided to knock that shit off and not go next door for anything. My wallet (and health) will thank me in the long run I think.

Money! One of my favorite topics, seriously. We allocate a set amount of money per month for personal spending. This also gets a portion of any bonuses or similar. This has generally worked fairly well for allowing us each a sense of freedom to spend individually.

That sounds rather inconvenient. I’ve met your wife, and she’s very smart… with this arrangement she will find out about the hookers and blow eventually.

sybil law – Good luck with the conversation. Us men sometimes like to defend the buying of our stupid crap. Oh, and your loan has been approved, Mrs. Law. 😉

nilsa – I would have to ask her, but I think she wouldn’t mind doing that. Of course, if you read about us getting a new motor home, then you may want to ask some questions. 😉

kevin – Those things add up over time. My co-worker’s boyfriend spends at least $20 a day for soda and smokes. Good for you! I’d be curious to hear how much it adds up to over time.

ren – I like the allocated expenses and for some things like eating out and grocery shopping, we do that already. But it would be nice to extend that out to the misc purchases.

dave2 – I could give up the hookers since they seems to want bigger tips these days, but the blow… I’m going to need an offshore bank account… oopps.. did I just comment that on my blog.

Yeah, I’m pretty bad about it all. I was good until several years ago when Katie complained about being too far out of the loop on finances, so she took over and I now do nothing. But we’re shared on everything… bank accounts, credit cards, the works.

kapgar – I imagine at some point, the shared bank account may happen. And of course, if we ever move and buy another house, we will do that jointly.
