Scooter Sunday #16
|
Wow. I’ve done 16 of these Scooter Sunday posts already? How time flies.
Vacation in Park City
“Hello pool… I will be visiting you soon and often”
We own time share at Westgate Park City. It’s a short drive from our house (under 30 minutes with no traffic up Parley’s Canyon) and it’s nice to visit and unwind without spending hardly any money or having to travel long distances. We’ve taken the week off to relax and just get away, without being too far from home. Of course, I always plan to read books, articles, get some writing done… try to use the time to unleash my creative abilities. In the end, I normally end up drinking non-stop, getting a tan at the pool and watching a few movies. We’ll see what this week brings.
Mötley Crüe
My daughter and I went to see Mötley Crüe this last week for their Crue Fest tour. On the bill was Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt and Sixx:AM.
Nikki Sixx on stage with Sixx:AM
That’s Nikki Sixx on stage with his band Sixx:AM. This was the second time I’ve seen them [they opened for Korn here in Salt Lake last October]. What an animal… pulling double duty. And their sound, while much different than anything the Crue has done, works well live.
Front and Center – The Crue
This was my 4th time seeing the Crue live. And each and every time, they do not disappoint. With the exception of Mick Mars [he’s 57], all of them are approaching 50 and show no signs of stopping. Vince looked great, compared to two years ago when he was a walking bloat bag. And even Mick moved around the stage more, showing that his spine degenerative disease isn’t slowing him down.
Off for now
Well, that’s it for this week. Today is my wife’s birthday, so I wanted to get this post out there early so I didn’t interrupt her day with me glued to my MacBook Pro. Well, that and we are on vacation.
At first I was all “hey, what’s going on here? This post is wayyyy too short” and then I saw the wife’s birthday bit and then I was all “that’ll do, chillywilly. That’ll do.”
Reading schmeading books?! Whatever! You’re going to read all your blogs and like it. And then you’re going to comment like a whore and make all of us work horses happy. Yeah, that’s what you’re going to do!
whall – You know it. I can sneak in a comment or two while she’s getting ready for the day, but I had to get up before she did to spend the almost hour getting the post, pics and outline together.
nilsa – LOL… you are too funny. I guess the book will have to take back seat. At least I can drink while reading blogs and leaving comments.
So you drove to Park City and Mötley Crüe on your scooter?!?
So, is the shot of the pool from your room?
OOOh! Marty, I wuvs you! You posted Nikki pics! I wanted to see Sixx AM so badly. I was really glad I got to see the live stream from Vegas the other night, even if all we saw was Crue. I too noticed that Mick was moving around and looking much healthier since his hip replacement. Give Mrs Marty a big Happy Birthday from me and Motley and enjoy the vacay!
dave2 – Unfortunately, I had to take the car. The car does get good mileage. Not 100mpg, but it’s good for the car it is.
xisor – Yep. That’s the view from our room. It’s nice to be able to shout down or see how crowded it is.
winter – Yeah, Nikki so rocks. He’s amazing for being so close to 50. I’m glad you got to see the streaming from Vegas the other night. Incredible show. And I will pass on the birthday wishes. It’s been a great day so far.
I love the Crue, but I haven’t seen them since their Dr. Feelgood tour in ’89. Oh, now that was a show!
kapgar – I saw that tour. It was really good. It was the one where Tommy Lee got into the drum kit that was hooked to the ceiling of the venue. Way cool show.
I didn’t know Mick had that disease. I saw an interview with them on Larry King a couple of weeks ago and he barely made any sense whatsoever and was a *very* slow speaker. I put it down to years of hard drug use but will now change my opinion.
kevin – You know, I thought the same thing (re: the drug use), cause you know… It’s Motley Crue. But reading “The Dirt” shined a light on the whole ordeal and now I leave the aging-drug-blaming to the other three.
