The 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid pickup – ordered on September 20, 2022
On September 20, 2022 – one year ago, I put a $500 deposit on a 2023 Ford Maverick pickup with a hybrid engine that gets 43 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway (regenerative braking is the reason for the higher fuel economy in the city). My current car, a 2012 Nissan Sentra has seen better days (a future blog post will have an update on its state in 2023) and it’s time I got a new vehicle.
Since the 2022 model, which was the first year the Ford Maverick came out, I have been eyeing this as a potential new vehicle for me. Since I put down a deposit, I have been looking for any details and posting various articles on Twitter/X. This will be my first truck. Yes, seriously. I’ve been a car person since my first – a 1974 Honda Civic. So I’m very excited to get this.
2024 Model
Now on the 2024 model order wait list
Whoa… hold on now. Put the brakes on. Back on July 17, 2023, I was taken off the 2023 order list and placed on the 2024 order list. Yes, Ten months of waiting and I never got the 2023 model. Blame it on supply chain issues, specifically the batteries for the hybrid engine.
And We Wait
And now a year later, I will wait some more before I get it. What is the estimate? No one really knows. I am going to guess March 2024 is when I will get the Ford Maverick Hybrid. The cost: about $26,650, which ended up being $2800 more than the 2023 model I originally ordered. I get regular updates from both the dealer and Ford via phone calls and emails.
I will update with any progress, but let’s not hold our breath. March is only 6 months away.
