On Thursday January 30, 2025, there was a benefit concert called FireAidLA – held in Los Angeles with a who’s who of bands and artists who showed up to perform to raise money for the devastating fires that started on January 7, 2025 and has leveled over 12,000 structures and displaced thousands of people and pets.
One of those bands that performed was the surviving members of Nirvana: Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. Joining them on vocals were St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett and Violet Grohl.
Song List
There were 4 songs performed with four different vocalists:
- “Breed” – St. Vincent
- “School” – Kim Gordon
- “Territorial Pissings” – Joan Jett
- “All Apologies” – Violet Grohl
The Reunion We Didn’t Realize We Needed
The entire concert can be viewed on Disney+ where the Nirvana reunion starts at around 3 hours 40 mins. The above YouTube clip I posted above has just the Nirvana performance.
I never got to see Nirvana live, but had tickets to their show in Ogden, UT in December 1993. I never made it to the show as there was a giant snowstorm that hit that day. I told myself that I would catch them next time they were here. Fast forward to April 2994 when Kurt Cobain took his own life.
So to see this reunion happen was amazing and awesome. Violet has a musical career and I can’t wait to see what more she will do. Joan Jett at age 66 is a legend. Kim Gordon has proven over the years her vocal chops are capable. And St. Vincent – Annie Clark – has a long history of her songs being strong.
