“Love My Way” the official video
Sometime around Christmas of 1982, the radio station KROQ 106.7 FM in Los Angeles played a new song by the UK post-punk band The Psychedelic Furs. It was catchy, had a cool beat with extra instruments like a marimba. It was called “Love My Way” and I instantly embraced it.
It wasn’t until late 1985 when I bought the cassette “Forever Now”, which contained the song “Love My Way” [I also purchased their next album “Mirror Moves” on cassette, which had come out the year before]
Favorite Song
Over the years, the Psychedelic Furs released a few more albums, including a re-recorded version of their 1981 song “Pretty In Pink” for the 1986 movie of the same name. But regardless of these newer songs, “Love My Way” continues to remain my favorite of the bands catalog.
Recently, the Oscar-nominated movie “Call Me By Your Name” used the song twice during the film, which was another testament to the staying power of this song to be relevant 35 years later.
I’ve had the opportunity to hear this song live several times, once by Psychedelic Furs during the only time I’ve seen the band live. And 3 times when the band become Love Spit Love, which “Love My Way” ended up being the only Psychedelic Furs cover they performed during their short stint together.
