The End of the Season

This episode is the end of Season 2. I thank you, my readers and viewers, for being patient with me this year. While there have been some great videos I’ve done, the creator is always the worst critic. I had wanted to do more episodes, especially given the time I had during the entire month of October. But it didn’t happen. And I’m ok with that, for the most part, because it wasn’t due to the fact that I don’t love riding my scooter and making videos. No no.. there were other factors, which I hope to blog about here soon.

But enough of that. I do have some great plans for Scooter Sunday Season 3 and hope to get back to my regular, creative self during the winter months.

Speaking of Winter…

Which brings me to the return of Snowy Sunday on December 6th, 2009. There will be a new episode each and every week during the winter months, come rain, snow, sleet, distractions, lazy ass syndrome… no exceptions [well, there's always *some* exceptions, but I will try to keep them from interfering with my video making]. I’ve got some great kick ass episodes in store for you, the viewing audience.

With summer officially gone and fall started, I am doing what I can to get a few more episodes of Scooter Sunday in before it gets too cold to ride. The forecast is looking pretty cold and grim for this next weekend, so there will most likely not be a new episode next week.

Scooter Sunday #22

Scooter Sunday returns to Sundays. At least for this week.

“you like-a the Video, eh?”

Thanks to all of your comments, emails and in person props, I got lots of positive feedback on the first Scooter Sunday Captured video I did last week. Given this popularity and the fact that I love making videos, I decided to make it a regular feature here, at least until I have to put the scooter away at the end of the season.

As for what I will be doing for the months I don’t ride my scooter, I am currently working on ideas for that. I may give some sneak peeks in a few weeks, but for now, it’s all just brainstorming and writing down every idea that comes into my head.

Scooter Sunday Captured

This week’s video is a bit shorter than last week’s. I’m trying to keep them under 3 minutes, including credits [like Wayne does with his DITL video blog entries, although credits don't count in his 3 mins and he tends to have bonus footage]. Anything longer has me making tweaks for hours, which is fine for making cool videos, but adds to the delays in this actually getting posted sooner.

I am also providing a YouTube option, due to some of my readers not being able to view the Vimeo version. Vimeo will still be the default format, as it produces a better quality video [at least in my side-by-side comparisons].

Scooter Monday #21

Yes, you read that title correct. Once again, thanks to my day job and some video problems I had [oh, and the several hours I spent at the Greek Festival and the Utah State Fair], Scooter Sunday is getting bumped to Monday this week. I am hoping to be back to my regular Sunday posts next week.

You’ve Got Video!

Scooter Sunday has gone video!

I wanted to make a video of my scooter rides. But after looking online for a motorcycle camera mount, they were almost $100 and didn’t fit my scooter. Off to Google for a search and finding this MetaCafe video that showed how to use PVC and hose clamps to make your own camera mount. I spent about $10, which is still $90 cheaper than a pre-made mount.

Below are pictures of the finished product, attached to my scooter.

This is what the mount looks like completed. Start to finish [not including time drinking beer and bullshitting with my friend Kris] was about 2 hours, which included a trip to Lowe’s and all of the cutting, drilling and screwing.

I made a significant modification from the camera mount in the MetaCafe video. I decided to encase the screw in a rubber grommet to help absorb any vibrations, which actually does help.

And that’s what the camera looks like from the front of the scooter. Not too bad and blends in well.

From my position when I’m riding, I can see the LCD screen. If the sun is out, it’s a bit washed out, especially at an angle that is not viewer-friendly.
