Retro: From MS-DOS 5 to Windows 7

I saw this video some months ago and was impressed with this experiment. Also, it took me back to my early days with PCs as I ran MS-DOS from as early as 3.3 to 6.0 before using Windows 1.0 in 1985. Then updating to Windows/286 then Windows/386 then Windows 3.0, 3.1 and to Windows 95 in 1995.

And although the video omits it, I ran Windows ME for almost 4 years. Yes, it was an odd experience, but the issues I had weren’t as bad as what others went through.

Windows XP was the last version of Windows I used for my main home computer until I went all Mac [I should note that I’ve been a Mac user since 1985, but used Windows for my personal computing needs until 2005.]. It was the most stable of Windows OS versions and I rarely had any issues with it, other than the fact that it’s Windows.

I now use Windows 7 at work and run a version of Windows 7 under VMware Fusion on my MacBook Pro to have something Windows to run non-Mac programs.

What was your first version of DOS or Windows that you used? Anyone out there that has never run Windows?
