My Hawaii Vacation – The Photos
|How long has it been since I’ve been back from Hawaii? It’s been over a month. A MONTH!! HOLY SHIT people. I’ve made you wait way too long.
This post is being broken up into two parts. This one covers the photos with captions. I also have a fun little video I’ve put together of me at the beach, which I will post soon.
So without further delays, here’s a photo summary of my trip to Hawaii.
– Coming into our final decent into the airport
– and we have landed and are going to get our baggage
– On the beach at Waikiki. Vast ocean behind me.
– the view from our table at a hotel bar, looking at Waikiki beach
– we found penguins in Hawaii…
… and the reason why they are in Hawaii
– onto Pearl Harbor – that’s my wife standing by the sign
– The Arizona Memorial
– landed at Kona Int’l airport. I don’t know who that is in front of me
– the view outside our room at the Hilton Grand Vacations Beach Resort. No, I didn’t play golf in Hawaii… I know… Doh!
– the bay at the Hilton’s main hotel area (walking distance from the Hilton Grand Vacations)
– Kealakekua Bay – we kayaked here and went snorkeling
– at Pu’uhonuaohonaunau Park – that’s me and my wife. The happy looking couple we are
– I’ve always wanted to take a photo like this.. oh yeah, I did
– even though it rained, we both had fun horseback riding
– I belong at the beach, especially a nice beach like Hapuna State Beach
– we’ve still got that romantic side to us
– another great happy photo of my wife and I at Akaka Falls, near Hiro
– incredible to see a live volcano (no lava this trip)
– the entrance to the lava tube, part of the volcano area
and one last shot of Hawaii…
– the morning of our last day in Hawaii. A parting sunrise
Loved It
And that’s my vacation summary in photos. Next up is a video that documents all that photos can’t capture.
Wow, you’ve now made me want to go there even more. Amazing photos, you guys look really happy together that’s for sure.
Aloha Marty,
We’re glad you enjoyed your visit to Hawaii.
Next time you gotta play golf! The courses at Waikoloa Beach Resort are great!
If you get to Oahu again let me know and I’ll show you one of the toughest courses you’ll ever play…Luana Hills. I’ve written an ad for them with the headline “It takes a lot of balls to play Luana Hills.” (…I don’t think they’ll use it.) Look the course up online.
Best wishes and Mahalo for the nice words about our property.

And I was there just six months ago. These photos just make me want to go back!
Awesome pictures! You make me wanna hop on a plane and go there!
Beautiful photos.
You couldn’t pay me to sit on a horse. I’ve been a little skittish since my sister’s tried to scrape me off his back using a fence … way back when I was 25.
kevin – Thank you for the kind words, Kevin. Yeah, it’s very nice there and the photos are pretty accurate.
jim – Thank you, Jim. Next trip for sure I’m golfing.
dave2 – Seeing your photos from your last trip got me all excited to go. Now having been there, I want to go back again.
hilly – Thanks. We want to go back and soon.
delmer – Thanks. The horse really wasn’t that bad. I was a bit skittish, since it had been years, but once I got the hang of it, it was nice. Even talked to the horse some “hey there Bulletproof”
Hawaii? I seem to recall something about a Hawaiian vacation like three-ish years ago, right?
JK. Great photos.
I wonder if your wife says the same as mine: “is this going on your blog? Can we JUST HAVE A VACATION ALREADY???!?!?! why can’t you make fun videos like Marty?!??!/!”
Great to see evidence of the wonderful time you had. I need to get back to Hawaii sometime in the next few years, but with the kids this time.
See you tomorrow, Marty!
I read it as “black African penguin” and was about to go bat shit when I realized I just can’t read.
Looks like you have a lovely holiday – yay!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
kapgar – Funny man, you are. Thanks. We’ll have to compare notes in more detail, as we talked about before.
whall – Funny.. my wife says that same thing when she hears about others going on vacation. Although she knew this would go on my blog.
ren – Thanks. It was fun. I want to take my daughter next time around. I think she would enjoy it.
nilsa – No bat shit for you. Yes, it was very nice.
sybil law – You are most welcome.
I love the photos! Especially of you and your wife 🙂 You two are a bunch of sweethearts.
I hope to go horseback riding this summer. I have never gone! Even though we HAD a horse for the first 8 years of my life. Ha ha.
kilax – Wow… you had a horse and have never gone? You should go. It actually was fun. And thank you for the kind comments.
Holy crap, I commented here DECADES ago but I guess it didn’t take or something. I’m blaming interwebs gremlins 😛
I had Oooed and Ahhhed about the lovely pics, and said how I loved that you captured your initials in the sand. I also said some other stuff, jeez, what was it. Well, my thoughts now are that I’m so glad you got to go, surprised and pleased that you actually did find penguins (who knew! I was totally kidding when I made that remark before you left! Although these guys in your pic don’t exactly match my imaginary ones, complete with shades, leis and palm tree festooned button down shirts), and I hope you get to go again sometime. And I hope I get to go sometime :).
Cheers!
(Yeah, interwebs gremlins, or possibly me forgetting to click “Submit Comment”.)
Your wife is beautiful and I love that you are so adorable with the writing in the sand.
I haven’t been to Hawaii in a really long time but when I see pictures it always reminds me of the beautiful smell of the air there. I can’t even describe it other than to say it smells like Hawaii. I would love to go back soon!
everything looks beautiful- the volcano, the beach and you and reba!! i am so glad you had such a wonderful time!
catherine – It was such a great place to visit. I hope you can go there at some point. It’s an amazing place.
tori – Thank you for the kind comments. The ocean smell, the breezes, the humid conditions that made my skin feel good. It was all fun. Hope you can make it back there again soon.
kristi – A comment… you left a comment. So happy! 🙂 Thank you. We did have a great time there.
AWESOME, Marty. : ) I’ve only been to Hawaii once (1975), I’d love to go back now (except for the 10-hour plane ride). Glad you guys had a great trip. : )
john – Thanks, John. 10 hour plane ride? Ours was just under 6 hours (a direct flight from SLC to Honolulu)
Your trip seems fun. look of your smile. I can understand because it’s very pleasant atmosphere in Hawaii. I really had never been there but I have plans to visit six months into the future. I’ll have fun just like you.
