Super Snowy Sunny Scooter Snackie Sunday!
|Hi there, my name is Hilly from Snackie’s World! Most of you know me but for those who don’t, I run a regular feature on my blog each week called Snackie Sunday. Oddly enough, Marty too runs a weekly feature called Scooter Sunday or Snowy Sunday or whatever else he may come up with next. In any case, although I was not able to go out and make a video titled either “Hemi Sunday” or “Look, It’s Sunny And 70 Degrees (again) In Southern California Sunday”, I thought I could bring you the next best thing. Today, I will be hosting Snackie Sunday from Marty’s blog and we’ll let our theme have something to do with his recent trip to Hawaii.
Actually, I had this whole thing planned on how I would incorporate Hawaii into Snackie Sunday but you know what? He’s not even there anymore! Nope, he’s flying back home from a wonderful vacation, probably stuck in an airplane with whiny passengers and crying babies. That got me thinking about a trip that I have coming up in a couple of days and how much I loathe flying. It’s not that I’m scared of it or anything like that…I just hate being stuffed into a hot box with people I don’t know for hours on end.
With that said, it’s time for…..
WHEN FLYING, DO YOU PREFER AISLE, WINDOW, OR CENTER SEAT?
I know it would seem that NOBODY would pick the center seat however I do have a friend who has this enormous fear of flying and she prefers being in the middle because it makes her feel safe. Hey, one man’s “safe” is another’s “claustrophobic”, right? I totally prefer the window seat even though I have a bladder the size of a pea. I think that the window seat affords a little more room to scrunch (or cower) away from the other passengers and besides, I love the view. There’s nothing better than flying into a city and looking at it from above before you land!
Anydoodle, your turn! What’s your preference and why?

Depends.
If I’m flying alone, aisle. I don’t like being touched or having my butt within less than three feet from someone I don’t know’s face. And, I too, have a bladder the size of a pea.
If I’m flying with husband and it’s a smaller plane, window.
If I’m flying with daughter, middle.
If it’s an international flight, it doesn’t matter because six hours in I want to kill myself, anyway.
If I’m in First Class, I prefer window… that way people don’t have to bother me when they need to get out to use the restroom. When I’m in Coach, I prefer the window for nighttime flights (so I can sleep) and an aisle for daytime flight (so I’m not squished against a wall).
I’m all about the Window seat – I too like to look out and see the view below. (and yet, I’m terrified of heights… go figure…)
I used to love the window seats – especially since you can lean against the wall and snooze, but I think the room on the plane has shrunk, and my claustrophobia has increased exponentially. Plus, being tall, they’ve moved the seats in against my knees. So I’m an aisle person all the way now.
I like the aisle seat. I used to like the window, but some how I started becoming afraid to fly,(that had NOTHING to do with a bad, two footed, rough landing at Logan Airport) and watching the plane shake and shudder and the wings dip and roll makes me freak the fuck out!
I’m with Kyra – the space has shrunk. I think they’ve made the seat narrower too.
I prefer aisle if I’m alone. I used to work for the air navigation system — aisle is easier if the plane crashes too.
I don’t care – I put on my i-pod, open a book and read or fall asleep by the time the plane is in the air. so I guess window so people don’t have to climb over me when they have to pee.
Mostly aisle, so I can manipulate the aisle for a tad more leg room, though I do enjoy looking out the window too. Airline center seats are the 2nd ring of hell.
Yup, I totally read that as “Snowy Cooter” on both blogs. oopsie!
Aisle. I love getting my funny bone tickled by the drink cart.
I WILL FOLLOW HILLY TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH! Or to Marty’s blog.
Window. It amazes me how different one part of the country looks from another. (New York City vs. Colorado vs. Nevada, for example.)
Hmmm….I prefer to drive. I hate flying.
But it I have to fly, I prefer the aisle. Although I rarely pee on a flight I like to have the option to get up if I need too.
Window, for the whole leaning and taking a nap reason. I always feel too guilty to lean my seat back, so I nap sideways instead 🙂
xo
Window or aisle, for sure. I don’t even think I’ve ever sat in the middle, but I know it would kill me if I did. Anywhere I can lean away from other people is good, in general!
I always go for the aisle. More room.
I’m am EXTREMELY claustrophobic, so I will pitch an everlovin’ fit for an aisle. My best scenario is a plane with two seat rows – a window for Hunk and an aisle for me. Then I can lay on him and also push him out of the way when I want a view. It’s all about me.
The middle seat? OH JUST KILL ME. I would never make it. I’d have to wait for the next plane. Luckily, I have never flown alone, so I always have the option to make Hunk switch with me. Again, it’s all about me……and my weird hang ups.
I prefer the window seat. I normally sleep most of the way, no matter what time of day the flight is, so I like to be able to lean against the side of the plane. I also like the window so I can see when we land and take off, but also because I don’t want to have people step over me to go to the bathroom. And since I don’t go to the bathroom on airplanes, I don’t have to worry about crawling over someone else.
Window seat.
This way I have at least one direction I can safely lean towards and drool without causing an international incident.
Everyone knows I’m not really a mac person.
Ummmm…WHAT?
I prefer Windows.
The only thing I can say for sure is that I hate center seats. Sometimes I like window to be able to look out and see things. Sometimes I like aisle for the great arm space and ability to get to a bathroom more readily. There have been some trips where I’ve mixed it up and taken both. But center seat? No advantage to that whatsoever.
I prefer to be lying in bed when I am “flying”. That way I’m already cushy when I fall.
If flying alone, I prefer the aisle seat. At least I don’t have to ask the other person to let me out to go opee (cause I tend to drink more when alone – I know, that doesn’t sound healthy 😉 )
Otherwise, I’m a window seat guy all the way. More room, I can put my laptop bag behind my legs and I get to see where I’m landing when visiting a new city.
Great post, Hilly and thank you for bringing Snackie’s World (and your loyal masses of commenters) over to the Banal Leakage side of the web.
Aisle all the way.
always the window. i like to lean against it and sleep. sleeping is the best way to avoid motion sickness. plus sleeping adds the bonus of not worrying about all the shit that could go wrong which would cause me to plummet like a rock to the ground. so, yeah…window!
oh…and my bladder is the camel of bladders so i don’t bother anyone with getting up.
I’ll sit in any seat that will take me somewhere warm and sunny where happy Hour starts at 11:00am
I’m easy like that!
Window. For sure. I love to look out the window when taking off or landing… even if it is just to see the clouds.
Aisle. I don’t mind getting up for others because it means I can stretch my bad knee. Also, there’s more room for said bad knee in the aisle seat.
I’m 6’4″, 300 lbs. so I don’t in the seats generally too well so the middle is pretty much ruled out. The aisle is OK but I prefer the window, mainly because my head usually is above the headrest and it’s really uncomfortable when you have nothing to lean it on like when I sit on the aisle. Then again, at least on the aisle I can quickly and easily stand up and stretch if my legs are too jammed in the seat.
If I have to fly, window, baby.
I would much rather drive a full day than fly anywhere though. It’s not fear, it’s the cramped space and the boredom.
I’m a window flyer. Then I don’t have to get up for anyone else’s potty breaks, I can watch the clouds as we cruise by and I don’t feel rushed to get off the plane so I’m not holding anybody else up!
