As for Ayers and Obama, what is the big fear you have? That the two “pals” will come together to destroy the US? Open fire and picking people off? I can understand wanting to see remorse for any lives lost back in the day (that Wiki link from Ren mentions such a statement), and I can understand your not liking his defense of his actions and words, but I just don’t see the current fear, unless you’ve been a fly on the wall (no pun intended) and know something most others don’t.

As with Ren, I’m curious about this lie. What was the exact statement? That he hasn’t had much association with him over the years? Is there documented proof over the last 10 years of constant communications between Mr. Obama and Mr. Ayers? Are you suggesting they have had many underground and back room meetings?

ren – I’ve read the 2001 statements from the Wiki link you provided. The citations point to valid sources. Thanks for posting those. I had read them before, but already knew Ayers positions in the past and over the last 20 years.

Also, while I in no way condone his radical actions, I do think they fall short of the level of terrorism (though you didn’t use that word here). Anarchist, which you did use, does not seem accurate either.

And obviously Ayers has changed — he doesn’t blow up statues anymore.

As far as I can tell, it is a simple fact that Ayers is a professor, and his various civic actions over the past two decades make it seem likely that he is also respected. The only relation to Animal Farm I can see is that Ayers ideology — once he outgrew the violence of his youth — seems to be fairly similar to Orwell’s.

However, I must address your comment Re: ayers – has he ever expressed any remorse for his bombings? As recently as 2001 he said he didn’t do *enough*. The anarchist does not deserve a blurb/writeup from a Senator for his book and he represents the antithesis of freedom and democracy. Obama lied and mislead the public several times on his association with him and to sum up Ayers as a respected professor is to play out Animal Farm to the grossest extent.

Yes, people change. But has Ayers changed? Seems like the only thing different is that more people accept his radical Marxist and arachist views, reducing things with a moral relevance that scares the bejeezus out of me.
