kilax – I’m sad to hear stories like that. Especially so with one’s parents. I’ve had many relatives that have had challenges like that later in life and I wish and hope they could have had their good health extended. Even with her melanoma, my mom at 83, was still able to walk and get around. She had to stop driving, but that was very frustrating for her. When she passed away in 2006, her mind was still very fresh and active. I’m sorry to hear your father is in that condition. I’m sure the pain to see that is hard. My hope for all of us is to not experience that.

Saying “to be able to walk when I am 80″… brings out a strong reaction in me. I am back home, visiting my family this weekend. My dad’s dad is only 73, but he has Louie Body disorder/dementia, and he is a completely different person than who I’ve known my first 21 years of existence. He can’t walk anymore, he forgets things, he has trouble feeding himself.

It makes me feel so much pain to see him. I wish he was still able to walk and take care of himself. I hope we are at that age.

penelope – Hmmmm… drenched in butter…. so good. And you are right about memes and learning new stuff from others. Filling this out made me think of a few things myself that I had forgotten about. And it’s always fun to steal (even if you get caught)

whall – Martin Barre is cool. That’s a nice interview and in high school… nice. Yeah, Bill was very cordial, but I was just a small part of a long line of people waiting to speak with him. Still, a highlight.

Wow, Bill Gates? That’s cool! My biggest brush w/greatness was interviewing Martin Barre from Jethro Tull when I was in high school. I think Gates trump Barre.

I always think of Sprouts being such a British vegetable – I’m always slightly surprised when Americans mention them! (I love them too, drenched in butter mmmm mmmmm!)

dagny – You are welcome. I do have a short temper at times. Most of the time, I’m very mild-mannered and well-behaved. But there’s things in life that piss me off to the point where I get a temporary “lose it” episode. The older I get, the less patient I am, but I am also more tolerant of things.

I’ve not seen the movie yet. I do want to see it, but I’m afraid it may not be all that. On a side note, I have met Don Adams in real life, back in 1999. Nice guy and fun.

Wow… the age of 2 for a memory? that’s pretty good. Must have been all those drugs I did for me to only remember age 5…

Thanks for the chuckle. Do you have a short temper? Because I do and I often think of the evil things I could do to people. It’s an improvement over when I used to act upon these impulses as a child, though.

And what did you think when you heard that “Get Smart” was being made into a movie? Were you horrified?

Oh, and my oldest memory is from 1968. But I was 2. Really.
