kilax – If anyone has seen 3:10 To Yuma or American Psycho or The Machinist, they know Bale is very versatile. I don’t think he needs to worry. And if he is worried, he needs to get over it.

The camera cut-aways were done to keep it PG-13 instead of slipping into an R rating. An R rating for a Batman movie would have been disastrous at the box office.

That is what Steven and I were talking about (that you mentioned to grant) – that Bale might not want to get typecast as Batman. But I have seen SO MANY movies with him where he portrays a VARIETY of interesting characters… the only thing I have not seen him portray is a romantic role But I think he has the talent to play Batman a few more times and still get other roles.

And I think the movie was a bit creepy, but I am happy they didn’t show the gory stuff. So it was only creepy if you thought about it I suppose

kilax – I heard that same rumor, but who knows what Bale will do once he sees another script that he can’t turn down.

grant – Welcome to the blog. I think Ledger may get the nomination, but not sure on the win. It all depends on many things, like the academy, who’s he up against, etc. I would be surprised if the movie didn’t win at least for Best Costume design. I’m hoping to see it a couple more times while it’s still in theaters.

I think Bale will return, but I think he’s not wanting to stereotype himself into one role, which if anyone has seen any of his other movies, knows that’s not the case. He doesn’t have anything to worry about.

blondblogger – Well, the first 2 Batman movies were directed by TIm Burton. I loved them as I am a big Tim Burton fan and all of his creative bizarre mind conjures up. But they do have some creepy moments to them. This movie isn’t creepy at all. Viewing it as a complete movie, all of the characters fall into place and are perfectly cast. The Joker isn’t so much creepy as he is erratic.

winter – Not sure if SoCal still has budget theaters, but it’s worth it to see it on the big screen. You and Motley should go.

I haven’t seen it and probably won’t until it hits DVD. I haven’t heard a bad comment about it yet though.

I liked the first couple of Batman movies but then they started to get a little too creepy for me. I’m very easily creeped out!

The Dark Knight should win a few Oscars. Ledger for sure, that’s a lock. I think there’s a good chance at Best Movie and also Best Direction or even Best Screenplay. I saw it last Sunday at IMAX in Jordan Commons and then again the next day at the Gateway. It stood up to the second viewing.

As for another movie, I think Bale is under contract for 2 more. Why wouldn’t he want to keep making these? They are super fun to watch and obviously a cash machine.

You know I totally loved the movie too. I hope they make another… I heard (a rumor) that Bale doesn’t want to do a third though!
